True to size with some stretch, in S through 2XL. Denim is the one case where the waist decides everything, so measure there and use the chart rather than the size on your last pair. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: jeans relax a little with wear, and a fraction of extra room at the waist is what you will be grateful for by the evening.
